Ammonium acetate |
Last updated: 25/10/2024 |
(Also known as: acetic acid ammonium salt) |
SUMMARY |
Ammonium acetate is mainly used as a non-lethal attractant for the Mediterranean fruit fly. However, it also has fungicidal and insecticidal properties. It is non-volatile, highly soluble in water and, based on its chemical properties, is not expected to leach to groundwater. Ammonium acetate has a moderate mammalian toxicity and there is some risk of bioaccumulation. It is a recognised irritant. Ecotoxicological data is scarce but data suggests that ammonium acetate is moderately toxic to fish. |
Data alerts |
The following alerts are based on the data in the tables below. An absence of an alert does not imply the substance has no implications for human health, biodiversity or the environment but just that we do not have the data to form a judgement.
